The Point Lepreau Nuclear Power Plant’s licence to operate for another five years has been granted by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission which held hearings in Ottawa and Saint John.
In granting the new licence, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission has determined the necessary safety measures and equipment are up to par to protect the environment, the public at large and the workers at the plant.
About 94 interveners provided written submissions on the station’s relicensing with 40 of the registered interveners making formal presentations at the Saint John hearing.
