Part of the role of Moncton’s poet flyes is to create a community project in connection with poetry which will be presented during the Frye Festival.
For her piece, Kayla Geitzler will be taking submissions from the public on what Moncton means to them.
“I will use excepts from writings and interviews gathered from Indigenous individuals, students, professionals, artists, elders and residents from all walks of life as well as anyone who has a connection to our city,” she says.
The pieces will be turned into a condensed text and a longer multi-lingual text will turn into a series of videos read by local creatives.
Meanwhile, for his project, Jean-Philippe Raîche will collaborate with a local photographer to create a series of collectible cards with photos and poems inspired by the city.
He says they will each feature a photo of a location in the community along with a short poem.
Both projects will be presented during the 21st and 22nd annual Frye Festival.
