It might be May and many of us are dreaming of sunny skies and warmer days ahead, but just as many of us are still caught up in watching hockey. Whether you are watching the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs of the Moncton Wildcats in their quest for a second straight QMJHL Championship and another trip to the Memorial Cup, there’s hockey to watch almost nightly. What does surprise me is team loyalty in Canada. If you think back to last October and the amazing run the Toronto Blue Jays had to the World Series, they had all of Canada behind them in their quest to bring another World Series Championship back to Canada. Fast forward to this spring and the NHL Playoffs, by the start of the second round the only Canadian team left in the hunt for Lord Stanley’s Cup is the winningest franchise in NHL history, the Montreal Canadiens who based on their play of late look destined to meet the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Final. Yet still, there are many hockey fans from coast to coast who will only cheer for their team and will root for the Habs “when hell freezes over” or will begrudgingly watch them simply because they love the game. If you’ve never seen a Montreal Canadiens home playoff game at the Bell Centre or watched on tv, I think you’re missing out as they have to be the most electrifying home crowd in pro-sports! Go Habs Go!! Let’s bring the Stanley Cup back to Canada! And the atmosphere inside the Avenir Centre is just as electrifying as the Wildcats continue their quest for a second straight Q championship and another trip to the Memorial Cup. Wildcats are on the road tonight and Wednesday night in Chicoutimi but will be home for game 5 Friday night at the Avenir Centre, let’s bring the noise and cheer them on to victory and on the road to the Memorial Cup!
