Pipeline Completion Delayed

TransCanada announcing today changes to the project that will delay the opening of the Energy East pipeline by two years.

The company will not be building a marine and associated tank terminals at Cacouna, Quebec.

President Russ Girling says the decision is the result of the recommended change in status of beluga whales to endangered and their ongoing conservations with the community.

The company says other terminal options in Quebec are being reviewed and Quebec and New Brunswick refineries would continue to be connected directly to Energy East.

The company says the change in scope and schedule of the project means a service date of 2020, instead of 2018.
