Penobsquis Man Dead After Head-On Collision

A 55-year-old man from Penobsquis has died following a head-on-vehicle collision.

The crash between an SUV and a transport truck happened on Highway 1 in Penobsquis at around 9:15 p.m. Friday.

RCMP say it’s believed the driver of the SUV, travelling westbound in the eastbound lane, collided with the transport truck, which was travelling eastbound.

The driver of the SUV died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The transport truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Highway 1 was closed for around four hours but has since been re-opened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and an autopsy will be scheduled to determine the man’s exact cause of death.
