PEI residents heading to the provincial polls April 3rd

The writ has dropped in Prince Edward Island.

Progressive Conservative Leader Dennis King made things official Monday night during a nomination meeting.

“Earlier today, I visited her Honour the Lieutenant Governor and I asked her to sign the writ of election. Islanders will get to choose their government on April 3, 2023.”

With confidence, King added that this is the beginning of a new journey, “I’m confident in our team, I’m confident in our plan, I’m confident in our track record and I say to you as I say to the 26 of you behind me (candidates), let’s get to work, let’s go get the job done one more time.”

PEI’s provincial election comes six months earlier than planned.

The fixed election date was set for October 2nd, but as Premier, King had the authority to call an earlier date.
