PC Leader Promises More Resources For Mental Health

Progressive Conservative Leader Blaine Higgs says if elected a PC government would reduce the wait times for assessment, diagnosis and treatment of learning disabilities for children and youth by hiring 20 private sector psychologists.

Higgs says the PC plank on mental health also includes working with stakeholders to retain and recruit psychologists to the public system, create 10 accredited intern positions because currently there are only two such positions in the province.

Higgs also says we need to explore how to expand coverage of psychological services through Medicare for children in high-risk groups.
