PC Leader Calls Harassment Allegations “Deeply Troubling”

The leader of the Official Opposition says the allegations of harassment against the speaker are deeply troubling.

Blaine Higgs says he unequivocally condemns harassment of any kind, inside or outside the workplace.

Higgs also says the way the allegations were handled by the premier and his office are deeply troubling.

He noted how the premier reconvened the legislature on March 13th with the speaker in the chair knowing since February 17th that these allegations existed.

Higgs adds the Gallant government closed the legislature two weeks early without disclosing these allegations.

He says the premier has not explained why his office transferred the employee but took no further action.

Higgs adds the premier made numerous public appearances this week but only revealed the allegations to the media Thursday night after learning the employee was going forward with a harassment complaint.
