Part Of Main Street To Close For Several Hours, As Colour Is Applied To Crosswalks

The painting of rainbows on Moncton’s Main Street crosswalks will be done today.

The City of Moncton says of Main from Mechanic Street to Lutz will be closed between 9am and 2pm, as the street painting is underway.

Moncton City Council reversed its decision on Monday night and unanimously agreed to have the rainbow crosswalks.

There were previous concerns over the safety of crosswalks because they were not the standard white colour.

The Transportation Association of Canada completed a study last month, but found they had insufficient data.

Another study is expected to be done in the fall.
