PAL Airlines Adds Additional Flight From Greater Moncton

More flights are now being offered out of the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport.

PAL Airlines has added a trip to Ottawa, with the inaugural flight last week.

Airport President and CEO Bernard Leblanc says this is one of several being offered out of Moncton, “When they initially launched in September, they started with a route directly to St. John’s Newfoundland. They modified it in early January so now it goes to Deer Lake and St. John’s and then added a Wabush flight and then added Halifax.

Leblanc says PAL has various aircraft sizes, “This flight to Ottawa, is actually going to their largest aircraft with is the Q400 which can accommodate around 78 people. Just to see the activities are coming back is great. Since the New Brunswick border opened in June, we’re really seeing that start to ramp up.

Meantime, after the province returned to the green phase on Saturday, travelling is now on the minds of some New Brunswickers.

But Leblanc says because the airport is located on federal land, they have to follow those guidelines, “Rather than just travellers be able to come into the terminal building, anyone can come, so that our doors are open that way. But you will still see masks. People will still be required to wear masks..

Leblanc says plexiglass and extensive cleaning is still in place but visitors will no longer have to social distance.

“Green versus federal, is something that might confuse people a bit. It is something that we want to clarify that you may not have to wear masks in public spaces in New Brunswick, at the airport that is still required at this time,” he adds.
