Opening Of New North End Moncton School Delayed

It was expected that a new north end middle school would be ready to open in September next year.

But Anglophone East School District Superintendent Gregg Ingersoll says the province has indicated that won’t be the case, “They haven’t given us a specific date, but they just said it likely won’t be ready for September. What that means exactly, we’re not sure.”

Ingersoll says their plan will be to organize classes for the next school year at Northrop Frye and Evergreen Park as they will look for the new school, “Until we make the move, it will mean the current students will still be housed in the current two locations. But we will do the staffing for the new school in the spring and we will arrange the classes. When the new school opens, whenever that is, we’ll just move the whole class and their teacher to the new school.”

Evergreen Park and Northrup Frye will then become K to 5 schools and the new middle school which has yet to be named, will be for grades 6 to 8.

A school naming contest is currently underway through the district. More details can be found on the Anglophone East Facebook page.
