A Hamilton, Ontario woman has made history by becoming the first person to swim between all three Maritime provinces in the Northumberland Strait.
Marilyn Korzekwa began her swim near Amherst Shore, Nova Scotia and crossed Baie Verte to Cape Tormentine and then swam over to Prince Edward Island.
Over a distance of 24 kilometres, the swim took just under 17 hours.
On her blog, Korzekwa said she decided against swimming back to New Brunswick due to the cold water and air conditions and she was also stung dozens of times by jellyfish.
The 58-year-old psychiatrist has been a marathon swimmer for many years and plans to next tackle the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand.
