Record high temperatures are being challenged across New Brunswick today according to Environment Canada with humidex values making it feel like the high 20’s in some areas.
Meteorologist Linda Libby says the warmth comes from a combination of low pressure near the Great Lakes and high pressure to the east of our region.
“The circulation between the two features is counterclockwise and that results in bringing warm air from the southern U.S.,” she says.
After a prolonged dry period, some much needed rain is expected to arrive late Wednesday and into Thursday but Libby adds most of it will fall in western New Brunswick.
