Rita May Murphy

June 24, 1924  –  February 20, 2026

Rita May Murphy, age 101, of Ocean Hall, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, February 20, 2026. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, June 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maggie (nee MacAuley) MacDonald.

Rita retired from the Credit Union Central as an office administrator. She was a long-time attendee of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, where she served as a member of the CWL. She enjoyed travelling, volunteering, playing bridge, bingo, time at the casino, socializing and spending time with her family.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Patricia “Pat” Pothier (Claude), Michael Murphy (Dianne) and Mark Murphy (MaryAnne); grandchildren, Heather (Tyler) and Cory (Amanda); great grandchildren, Avalon, Logan and Isabelle (Nova Scotia); Step grandchildren Curt and Kari ( Jon) and step great grandchildren Florence and Remi (Alberta) as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, James Murphy (1971); sister, Winnie; and brothers, Joseph and Ted.

There will be no visitation hours by personal request.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Moncton N.B. at a date and time to be announced. Interment will take place in the spring at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
