The province has awarded a contract to build a 60 bed nursing home in Moncton, to Shannex Inc.
The nursing home will be located on the campus of U de M.
50 million dollars will be invested by Shannex Inc in the first phase of the development, and the project will create about 150 jobs in a variety of occupations including health care and hospitality services.
Shannex Inc. will also construct a retirement living home, a special care home and lifestyle apartments.
Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers says this is helping to address a need for more nursing home beds in the province.
