The Point Lepreau nuclear power plant would be able to withstand very rare, large earthquakes according to an evaluation released by NB Power.
The interim assessment shows the risk posed by seismic events is acceptably low and well within international risk targets.
NB Power is also claiming Lepreau is producing enough electricity to power more than 333,000 homes a year for the next 25 to 30 years.
