Visitor ban expands due to norovirus at Dumont

Norovirus continues to make the rounds at the Georges L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton.

Vitalité Health Network says visits have been suspended in 3E, the geriatric unit, at the Dumont.

The ban applies to general visitors and designated support persons but exceptions will be made for palliative care patients.

A norovirus outbreak had already been reported in 3F, the rehabilitation and geriatric unit, on Saturday.

Health officials say additional sanitary protocols are underway to limit the spread of the virus.

The ban on visits will remain in place until further notice.
