No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in New Brunswick today and one more individual has recovered.
The province’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Jennifer Russell, says only one active case remains.
“This Victoria weekend will be different, because of COVID-19 and we’ll all have to adjust our activities to meet the new reality. I want you all to enjoy the long weekend, but I want you to be safe,” she says.
Dr. Russell emphasized the importance of people maintaining and protecting the two-household bubble and limiting close contact to those within that bubble.
“When you stay at home, or within your two-household bubble, you are denying the COVID-19 virus the opportunity to spread to others,” says Russell. “Every close contact you have outside your bubble increases the risk to your health and to the health of those within your bubble.”
Dr. Russell says the virus is still all around us, especially since there is travel in and out of the province every day.
She asks that residents continue to respect social distancing rules and practice good hand hygiene.
