There’s still no word this morning on what started a large fire, that extensively damaged a 32-unit, four storey apartment building in Dieppe.
About 30 firefighters battled the blaze that broke out at around 10pm Sunday night at 487 Champlain Street.
It took several hours for fire departments from Dieppe and Moncton to get the fire under control. There were no injuries reported, but at least one woman had to be rescued by ladder from a third-storey window.
At least 36 residents have been left homeless and the Canadian Red Cross arranged emergency lodging, food and clothing
purchases.
Firefighters were back on the scene yesterday, trying to determine the cause. It is not believed to be suspicious.
