Next Riverview town council to be paid more

Municipal elections will be held on May 11, and the future Riverview Town Council will have an increased salary.

A council compensation by-law was unanimously passed during this week’s meeting.

The Mayor will receive a salary of $56,632, and the Deputy Mayor will receive $25,500.

The annual salary for Councillors will be $23,000.

The mayor and council will also be entitled to an annual increase on the fourth Monday in May, based on the Consumer Price Index.

Under the new by-law, an additional increase of two percent will also be applied annually for four consecutive years, from May 2027 until 2030.

The new council compensation by-law will be implemented upon the swearing in of the new Riverview Town council, after the municipal election.
