Harvest House hopes to have its new women’s addiction recovery program in the City of Moncton open by September or October of this year.
Spokesperson Denise McCluskey says they currently have a nine month residential program for men, but their plan is to offer a similar program to women as well, “So we’ll have eight beds available for women. What that will do, is they actually live with us for nine months and we have 24/7 supervision. it is a 12 step program that addresses all facets of addiction. We looked at body, mind and spirit. They’ll have daily exercise programs and there will be a Counsellor on site, because they need to deal with any unresolved issues. There are a lot of factors that bring someone into a life of addiction, so we want to make sure that we’re addressing everything.”
McCluskey adds, they are also hoping to be the recipients of $20, 000 in the Tangerine 20 contest, that would help to furnish the new centre, but they need your votes before July 26th.
