New Wharf Village Owner Operator Not Held Back By Bitterly Cold Weather

The recent cold snap isn’t keeping the new owner-operator of the Magnetic Hill Wharf Village from pushing forward with renovations.

Jenna Cann says the unusually warm weather in October and November helped them get a good headstart on the work in preparation for their grand opening in May.

She says they have a team currently working hard on site.

“We have some heaters going to give them some of a little bit of a break but they pushed through, and even with snow we can still do doors and windows, we just need shovels and snowblowers to get it ready,” says Cann. “So we’re gonna be working through the winter as best as we can to make sure we stay on schedule.”

Cann says flooring and roofing work is done, and they are currently repairing the original 30 year old wharf.

“We have one section done and completely leveled and secured, which we’re thrilled with, and we have two larger sections being worked on right now, and we’re on schedule actually to be done this month,” reports Cann. “So by the end of this month that wharf should be completed.”

Cann says three decades of wear and tear from the outdoor elements, specifically frost heaving, warped, and shifted the original beams leading to uneven ground and unsecured beaming.

That is all being changed, and repairs are being done to some damaged siding as well.

They plan to be open in May, with retail, and food and beverage options.
