New Maplehurst Middle School Seeking NB Artists

Calling all professional artistis in New Brunswick!

The new Maplehurst Middle School is looking for proposals to design, create and install public artwork.

The call is part of the Public Art Policy that establishes funding for the acquisition, or commissioning, of artworks for provincially owned and provincially invested infrastructure, such as schools or administrative buildings.

The policy is intended to promote a sense of shared identity and pride of place among New Brunswickers while recognizing and supporting professional artists.

They are asking for a professional artist, defined as an individual who:

  • has a history of public presentation in a professional context;
  • practices an art and offers services in exchange for remuneration as a creator; and
  • has specialized training in the arts (not necessarily in academic institutions) and is recognized as such by their peers.

Interested artists will be able to tour the new school on February 21st and March 8th.

The Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture will be accepting proposals until March 27th.

Once the selected works are created and installed at the new school, they will become part of collection ArtNB.
