The Horizon Health Network has to do a better job of providing services in both official languages and that’s why a new policy has been adopted.
The Regional Director of Official Languages, Pauline Babineau says not everyone has been on board which she attributes to fear of the unknown.
Babineau says not everyone who’s in healthcare has to be bilingual but there should be someone on duty at all times who is.
The new policy will more clearly define roles and responsibilities with possible sanctions, although they were not spelled out to the Health Authority’s Board of Directors.
