Moncton Northwest MLA Ernie Steeves is getting settled into his new role as Finance Minister.
This was Minister Steeves first day in his office. He says Premier Higgs spoke to him about the role, and the night before the swearing in, it was confirmed.
Steeves first big task will be the budget, “It is a heavy job. It is one that I am very excited about, because I truly believe that we need to balance this budget. I think we need to keep our bond rating from going down and interest rates are going up. We need to get this budget balanced.”
He said it was a little bit early to give specifics as to what will appear in the budget to get it balanced, but he is ready to get working on it.

Along with being the Finance Minister, Steeves is also the President of the Treasury Board for the province of New Brunswick.
Also from Moncton Southwest, Sherry Wilson takes on the role as Minister of Service New Brunswick and Minister Responsible for Women’s Equality.
MLA for Albert Mike Holland is the Minister of Energy and Resource Development.
