Many groups across the province are welcoming the opening of a new abortion clinic in Fredericton – including the provincial NDP.
Chief of Staff Brian Duplessis says the opening of Clinic 554 on the old site of the Morgentaler Clinic is the result of combined efforts by members of the medical community, Reproductive Justice New Brunswick and Fredericton Youth Feminists.
While Duplessis applauds the Premier for beginning the process of removing barriers to abortion services across the province – he says they want the Premier to finish the job and fully fund the procedure at Clinic 554.
Meanwhile, other groups are not so pleased with the move.
New Brunswick Right to Life Executive Director Peter Ryan says it’s nothing short of a disaster for women’s health and even worse for babies in the province.
