New Centre, Volunteers, Families All Fond Memories For Outgoing Manager Of The Peter McKee Community Food Centre

As the former manager of the Peter McKee Community Food Centre takes on a new job, he reflects on some achievements he’s proud of.

Ben MacMichael says going from the empty bare bones gym building, to the beautiful new centre they have now is certainly one of them.

He adds working with volunteers always humbled his heart.

“If it wasn’t for the work of our volunteers, no matter how much money you put into an outreach, or into a building it just doesn’t work without the caring and committed people we have,” says MacMichael.

He also thanked the families they served, saying “we had a lot of learning moments through this first year, it wasn’t as smooth as we always hoped, and they were patient, and understood and knew that we were ultimately trying to do the best for them.”

MacMichael starts his new job this week as the NB Sharing Coordinator for the New Brunswick Association of Food Banks.
