Many New Brunswickers got an unexpected treat over the weekend.
The aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, set the night sky aglow.
A large sunspot cluster produced several moderate to strong solar flares since Wednesday.
The increased solar activity caused the northern lights to be visible much further south than they typically are.
Forecasters say conditions are currently forecast to gradually wane later Monday into early Tuesday.
