New Brunswick Has Lots Of Black Bears

New Brunswick has a very healthy bear population.

Kevin Craig of The Department of Natural Resources says the provincial population is similar to that of Maine and other parts of Eastern North America.

He says the current population estimate for bears in New Brunswick is 17,000.

Craig says the population is not concentrated in one area adding people don’t normally see black bears who live near people because the animals are active at night.
