It is back to the drawing board for the New Brunswick NDP as they search for a new leader.
The party was forced to scrap its August leadership convention after the lone candidate failed to pass the vetting process.
Cyprien Okana, the party’s president, said the party will resume its search for a new leader and vows to hold a “longer leadership campaign.”
“Despite not having made any firm plans for the next leadership convention, the party has had several interested individuals seek out further information about the nomination process since the previous candidate was unable to pass the first phase of the nomination process,” said Okana in a statement Wednesday.
Jennifer McKenzie stepped down as leader in February after the party failed to win any seats in last fall’s provincial election.
Mackenzie Thomason was elected the interim leader in March.
