New Brunswick Special Olympians captured 25 medals at the recent National Winter Games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
Team manager Josh Astle says with medals in speed skating, snowshoeing and figure skating, athletes performed better than the previous winter event.
‘This year, we were lucky enough to have two first-time flyers on the plane and they loved it. This was their first national event and it was for several others too. But all in all, everyone had a great time,” he notes.
Astle says 31 athletes and 15 coaches were part of the New Brunswick team.
He adds the whole province can feel proud about how the athletes performed and how grateful they were for just being at the event.
