The New Brunswick Right To Life Association is up in arms over what they call a lack of media attention for the Liberal party’s evolving stance on abortion.
According to Peter Ryan with Right to Life, not enough attention has been paid to NB Liberal Leader Brian Gallant’s directive that all party candidates need to respect and support a pro-choice position.
He tells us he’s been involved in the pro-life cause for over 30 years. He’s a father of 7 and a grandfather of 15, and says he’s seen women change their mind about not being ready to have a baby.
Ryan says he wonders whether the media hasn’t been trying to protect Gallant from controversy by not making more of his directive to candidates, calling it a “jolt” from the party’s historic position. He says some Liberal candidates are still pro-life and were suprised to hear of Gallant’s directive that they must toe the line.
