NB RCMP Notes 80% Increase In Fatal Motorcycle Collisions In 2017 Annual Report

New Brunswick RCMP reported an 83 per cent increase year over year in the number of fatal motorcycle collisions.

In their annual report, it shows out of 62 fatal collisions, 11 involved motorcycles, up from six the year before.

Fatal off-road vehicle collisions also jumped 80 per cent from five to nine, while fatal pedestrian or cyclist collisions also climbed 22 per cent – from nine to eleven.

Despite checking approximately 103,000 more vehicles in checkstops compared to 2016, RCMP officers laid 793 charges for impaired driving, a ten per cent drop from 2016.
