NB Power’s Long Term Energy Plan

NB Power will have a long term strategic plan for the generation of energy ready in 2017.

NB Power’s Director of Strategic Planning Neil Larlee says the utility will transition away from the use of fossil fuels to a mix of renewables and nuclear power.

Larlee says the use of coal will be phased out by 2043 when the plant at Belledune is no longer in operation.

Liberal Senator Pierrette Ringuette says the St. John River Valley would be a prime location for wind farms because it’s always windy there.

Larlee says NB Power doesn’t need to generate any more electricity to meet its current needs.
