The National Farmers Union in New Brunswick (NFU-NB) is marking the 10th anniversary of its provincewide farmers’ market map with a new passport contest.
The NFU-NB said the map was first created in 2016 to support farmers’ markets and farm stands.
“Key components of agriculture and economic development,” the organization said.
The organization added that the map has been updated every two years since then and now lists 44 markets across the province.
The NFU-NB said the anniversary is also a chance to highlight its role supporting markets across New Brunswick.
“Through the oversight and collection of the map, the NFU-NB has become a liaison for farmers’ markets in the province, sitting on the Canadian Farmers’ Market coalition, and in 2025 hosted the province’s first farmers’ market conference,” the organization said.
To celebrate the milestone, the group said anyone aged 10 and older can pick up a Farmers’ Markets Passport between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31 at their local market, through the NFU-NB, or from the NB Food and Beverages team.
Participants can collect 10 unique stickers from any of the listed markets and enter a draw for one of 13 prizes made up of local food and beverage products.
The updated 2026 map is available at farmers’ markets, visitor information centres and public libraries, and online.
Staff will visit 35 markets during the contest period to meet vendors and shoppers, promote the passport and hand out a unique sticker.
A limited number of free NFU cloth bags will also be available on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
The NFU-NB said the project is supported by the Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries, along with the NB Food and Beverages Program.
“We work to create spaces for farmers to come together to learn and network,” the organization said.
The NFU-NB describes itself as an accredited general farm organization that supports small and medium‑sized family farms and promotes member‑driven policies.
