NB Athletes Set To Compete In Canada Games

Athletes from across the province will leave tomorrow for Prince George, BC in advance of this years Canada Games..

A total of 281 New Brunswickers, including 205 athletes and 41 coaches will be taking part in the event.

Spokesperson for Team New Brunswick Bruce MacFarlene says they’ll be competing in a wide range of sports this year, including gymnastics, biathlon, figure skating, judo,target shooting, synchro swimming and wheelchair basketball.

The group is divided into two, with 118 athletes leaving tomorrow morning for week one. The remainder will fly out next week.

This year’s flag bearer is Christopher Golden from Tracy, New Brunswick. He is a member of the archery team, and this is his third Canada Games.

Opening ceremonies will be held Friday night, and competition starts on Saturday.
