If you suddenly find yourself with some land, either through an inheritance or other means and you are not sure what to do with it the Nature Conservancy of Canada wants to hear from you.
You can get special tax breaks according to the Conservancy’s Andrew Holland, ” a charitable tax receipt for the appraised value of the land, if they donate at least 20 percent of the land and it is designated as ecologically significant by Environment and Climate Change Canada then they get capital gains tax exemptions for a ten year period. “
In order for the Nature Conservancy of Canada to accept the land it would have to have some environmental merit such as endangered flora or fauna or include a wetland.
