N.B. Alert Ready System Testing Today

Try not to be startled if your phone or radio goes off suddenly late Wednesday morning.

The province will test Alert Ready, the national emergency alert system, at 10:55 a.m.

Alert Ready warnings are used in emergency preparedness situations, including to warn residents about sudden extreme weather changes. The alert produces audible alarms on televisions, radios, and mobile devices.

According to a provincial release, Wednesday’s test will be followed by the following message:

“This is a test of the National Public Alerting System issued by the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization. This is only a test. If this had been an actual emergency or threat, you would now hear instructions that would assist you to protect you and your family. This is a test only; no action is required.”
