One of the last pieces missing from the funding puzzle for Moncton’s proposed downtown centre is federal dollars.
Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe MP Robert Goguen says he has been meeting with municipal leaders this week.
Goguen confirms he has already secured $18 million of the $23.5 million dollars requested for the project by the City of Moncton.
He adds he hopes to make an official announcement soon.
When asked about a timeline, Goguen said “yesterday.”
Last week, the provincial government announced a $21 million dollar forgivable loan for the downtown centre which will be built on the site of the former Highfield Square Mall.
Construction on the $107 million dollar project could begin early next year.
