Mounties Believe Two Drivers Were Racing On TCH

Two drivers have been fined after Mounties believe two vehicles were racing on the Trans Canada Highway in northern Nova Scotia near Thomson Station.

During an RCMP radar check on Saturday afternoon, an officer locked in a vehicle travelling at 159 kilometres per hour in a 110 km/h zone.

A 29-year-old Lakeside, Nova Scotia man, driving a 2010 Acura CSX, was handed a $410 speeding ticket.

Meantime, another officer locked in a second vehicle travelling at a speed of 232 kilometres per hour.

A 19-year-old man from Quebec, driving a 2003 Infiniti G35, was charged for stunting with a fine of more than $2400.

Police say speed is a major factor in injuries and fatalities on highways and urge everyone to report unsafe driving practices.
