Mount Allison named top undergrad university in Canada

A New Brunswick university has been named Canada’s top undergraduate school by Maclean’s magazine.

This marks the 25th time that Mount Allison University in Sackville has received the honour.

The rankings look at student-to-faculty ratio, scholarships and bursaries, grants and operating budgets, among other things.

Mount Allison ranked first in faculty awards and library expenses, second in student awards and operating budget, and third in student-to-faculty ratio at 16:1.

“Being named Canada’s top undergraduate university is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire community, students, faculty, staff, and alumni alike,” Dr. Ian Sutherland, president and vice-chancellor, said in a news release.

“This recognition reaffirms the exceptional value of fostering a close-knit, supportive community where students are empowered to reach their full potential,”

L’Université de Moncton and St. Thomas University in Fredericton tied for 12th place on the annual list.

Meanwhile, the University of New Brunswick ranked eighth on the list of Canada’s best comprehensive universities.
