UPD: Mount A remains closed after concerning message

No updates yet after a concerning message was received at Mount Allison University.

Spokesperson Jonelle Mace says the campus remains closed as the investigation is ongoing.

She adds that the safety of students, faculty, and staff is a high priority, and they’ll be notified when campus reopens.

The decision to suspend classes was made on Tuesday, after the message was found on campus.

The school then notified staff, students and faculty with the following:

“Further to last night’s email addressing wellness supports on campus due to a concerning message found on campus referencing February 11, 2026, the University is now taking the next step to close the University on this date out of an abundance of caution.

“The University will be closed on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 and all classes and on-campus activities are cancelled. Any scheduled midterms will occur during the next regularly scheduled class.”

While classes and on-campus activities have been suspended, the university said all residences will remain accessible with keys as normal.

The Jennings Dining Hall remains open on Wednesday with increased security.

The administration asked anyone with information about the situation to contact Campus Security at 506-364-2228.

RCMP were notified, and there are increased security and patrols on campus.
