Studies have been done to look at whether more roundabouts are needed in Metro Moncton.
They’ve shown there are various intersections where roundabouts could assist with traffic flow, and mean less accidents.
City of Moncton Director or Transportation Stephane Thibodeau says there are specific locations they are already considering, including the intersection of Botsford, Wheeler and Lewisville.
He says, “We see a lot of congestion there at times and with the congestion we are seeing a significant increase of rear enders accidents and some right angle collisions at the intersection.”
Their next step is to review all of the intersections that were considered in their report, taking a closer look at the constraints, and the pitfalls that may make it difficult to build a roundabout, and they’ll also look at the positives as well.
