Premier Blaine Higgs has announced a deadline to apply for the province’s one-time $900 benefit.
New Brunswickers will have until 8 p.m. Thursday to apply for the emergency help from the province.
He says the amount was to help fill the gap until Canadians could access the federal Emergency Response Benefit, which is now available.
He says the provincial government has received over 60 thousand applications and already provided more than $20 million dollars in benefit payments.
Higgs also announced that a total of $50 million has been allocated for two distinct loan programs to help local businesses.

He also reminded residents ahead of Easter weekend that mass gatherings are prohibited, including in places of worship.
“I don’t want New Brunswickers to miss out on the sense of community that a place of worship can provide, but right now we need to put safety above anything else. With Easter approaching this weekend, it’s necessary for spiritual leaders to continue to explore virtual ways to celebrate the faith and not hold traditional services,” Higgs says.
