More Canadians than ever are wearing their poppies proudly this year.
More poppies have been distributed this year than ever, with 19 million poppies handed out .The Royal Canadian legion says that is one million more than last year.
Poppy donations go to programs and financial assistance to veterans in need and their families. More than $14 million is raised annually.
Recent events, that saw two soldiers killed, one in Ottawa and the other in Montreal, Canadians are eager to show their support, by wearing a poppy.
The poppy has stood as a symbol of remembrance since 1921.
