A Moncton woman is one of the top 8 finalists in the Tim Horton’s Duelling Doughnuts competition.
Rachel Keays presented her doughnut Carnival Explosion to the celebrity panel of judges last week.
Her doughnut has a cream cheese filling, with strawberry icing, strawberry drizzle, and a cotton candy topping.
She explains her inspiration.
“I absolutely love sugar, I’m a kid at heart, and cotton candy brings me back to being a child and being at the Carnival and I think it’s a flavour that everybody will enjoy,” says Keays.
She says she’ll find out Wednesday if her creation makes the top four, when Canadians can vote which ones they want to see in stores country wide.
The two chosen doughnuts will go head to head in early 2016, with the most popular doughnut rewarding the creator with the 10,000 dollar grand prize.
