In an effort to become a leader again in the concert business, the City of Moncton has unveiled a new strategy.
Maurice Belliveau, the city’s general manager of economic development and events, admits competition has become fierce and more players are now in the market luring big acts.
But Belliveau believes Moncton will become a triple threat for venues with Magnetic Hill, Moncton Stadium and hopefully soon… a downtown entertainment centre.
Belliveau says the city will be partnering with the higher levels of government for funding and also looking for private sector support.
He adds city hall will be reaching out to community members to sit on an “event attraction board” and conduct an in-house study on the feasibility of hosting an annual music festival on Magnetic Hill starting in 2016.
