Moncton street honours ball player’s legacy

A sports icon is being honoured in the City of Moncton.

A dedication ceremony was held on Sunday for Rheal Cormier.

The street leading to the CN Sportsplex is now known as Rheal Cormier Drive, and a plaque was also unveiled that includes information on Cormier’s history.

Cormier passed away in 2021 of pancreatic cancer.

He played for sixteen seasons in the majors, but before that, he could be found on Moncton’s ball fields.

Cormier has served as an inspiration to many ball players in the minor leagues.
