Many events for this weekend’s Pride Festival in Moncton have been either changed, moved online or have been cancelled due to COVID-19 precautions and other unforeseen circumstances.
Moncton’s River of Pride organization has announced the Pride Fair at Riverfront Park on Saturday afternoon has been cancelled.
The Pride Parade is going ahead but it will now be a stationary parade in the Moncton Coliseum parking lot starting at 1:30 p.m.
Parade floats will be parked in designated areas so attendees can walk around and enjoy the festivities.
Organizers say wearing a mask is highly recommended.
A free bus will be available from downtown at 1111 Main Street to the Coliseum, running in a loop during the festivities.
On its Facebook page, River of Pride says it put a lot of work into organizing the festival but there were numerous obstacles which is why some events had to be changed or cancelled.
