Moncton officials accepting applications for outdoor rink program

Moncton is seeking applications from neighbourhood groups for the 2024-2025 Community Outdoor Rink Program.

These rinks are to be cared for by volunteers, depending on the weather, with support from the City.

The chosen location must be one of the parks that have a water source available:

  • Lewisville Park – 45 Glenmoor Drive
  • Braemar Park – 45 Centre Street
  • Brentwood Park 150 Brentwood Drive
  • Prince Edward Park 25 Burlington Avenue
  • Grove Hamlet Park 39 Ripplewood Road
  • Canadian Heights Park 35 Chelsea Road
  • Candlewood Park – 90 Candlewood Drive
  • Codiac Heights Park – 100 Olympic Crescent
  • Fairview Knoll Park – 111 Fairview Knoll Drive
  • Knox Park 75 Knox Drive
  • Maplehurst Park 115 Maplehurst Drive
  • Pauline Frizzell Park 387 Salisbury Road
  • Roxborough Park – 140 Barrington Crescent
  • Brian Hicks Park – 120 Evergreen Drive
  • Westbrook Park – 16 Community Avenue
  • Creek Village Park – 40 Pleasant Street
  • Jonathan Park 39 Salengro Crescent

City officials emphasized that the volunteers must review these specific guidelines before applying for the program:

  • The City will supply and install the rink boards, facilitate water access via the heated water box in the park, and also provide a water hose for easy use.
  • Groups will receive $250 from the City to help with the upkeep and programming of the Community Outdoor Rink Program.
  • The rink size is 12.2 m by 18.3 m (40 feet by 60 feet).
  • The rink does not include a liner.
  • City personnel will inspect rinks monthly for safety and proper use. Rinks not meeting maintenance standards won’t qualify for the following year.
  • A minimum of four volunteers are needed who are committed to maintaining the rink.
  • Volunteers are responsible for all labour and maintenance associated with the rink.

The application deadline is Friday, October 11, more information can be found by calling the Recreation Department at 506-853-3516.
